In the woodsy canyons of Pacific Palisades, CA, not far from the ocean, is a house made of wood and light. All right, other materials were used – but those two are what you experience first.

Rustic Canyon was a complete remodel of an existing 1960’s modern, updated with an emphasis on a bright, playful feel with lots of light. The client, a commercial director with two daughters, was interested in both style and functionality.

Complimentary warm wood tones used in the floors and ceiling provide a symmetry and contrast for the white walls. The original floor plan was transformed into a dazzling glass box entry, living, dining, and kitchen combination space.

A bright raspberry painted rectangle housing the refrigerator and ovens serves as a divider between kitchen and dining areas. From the entry and across the living space a canyon view can be seen.
