Originally a classic pre-war bungalow, the goal for this project was to open and update the spaces, without destroying or compromising the original character of the property. Preserving, recreating, and echoing the built-ins and painted woodwork of the existing cottage style design accomplished this.

In the kitchen, high ceilings, a clerestory window, and sliding doors out into the garden add a modern feel.

This modernization extends to the master suite, smoothly tucked into attic space. Here, light wood, built-in cabinetry, and a pocket door in the bath make clean and simple use of the space.

In the end our entertainment industry clients had a house that retained its many charms, but worked as a modern family home.
